How to use advanced search option in bugzilla?

Hey guys, in this post will learn about how to use advanced search option in bugzilla which is one of the ways to search bugs similar to simple search but with more filter options.

Pre-requisite : If you don’t have a bugzilla account, create one here Create bugzilla account.

Login to the account with your credentials.

Step 1: Click search in the bugzilla Main-page

Step 2: As soon as you click search, there will be two options available: Simple Search and Advanced Search.

In this post, will learn about Advanced Search briefly.

Step 3: In the next window, you have more options to advance search and filter bugs.

Available search by options are:

  1. Summary
  2. Classification
  3. Product
  4. Component
  5. Status
  6. Resolution
  7. Detailed bug information
  8. Search by people
  9. Search by change history
  10. Custom search

Step 4 : Now, Letz perform a least complicated advanced search using the filters like category, classification , product, component, status and resolution.

Select the following :

Step 5: Once you have selected the above filters, Click Search.

Step 6: In the next window, Search results will be displayed.

Search Result retrieved 168 bugs. You can also hide the description of the search by clicking Hide Search Description.

Note : Retrieved bug count may subject to change based on addition of new bugs for the product:)

Step 7 : You can use Edit Search option to narrow down your search further.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Edit search.

As soon as you click Edit search, it will navigate to the advanced search options page where you can narrow down search further.

Letz narrow down further:)

Step 8 : Enter summary and Click search

Step 9: In the next window, Search results will be displayed.

Search Result retrieved 29 bugs which is good:)

Step 10 : Click Edit Search again to explore detailed bug information advanced search.

Step 11 : Click Detailed Bug information for more advanced search options.

Narrow results by the following fields:

I am going to narrow down further by selecting priority and Hardware and click Search again.

Step 12: In the next window, Search results will be displayed.

Search Result reduced from 29 bugs to 3 bugs.

Step 13 :  Click Edit Search again to explore search by people advanced search.

Step 14: In the next window, Search results will be displayed.

Search Result reduced from 3 bugs to 2 bugs.

Play with different advanced search options by clicking edit search:)
